BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (ADAMS) – The attorney for a Monroe County Human Rights Commission member says the FBI is investigating an incident at Lake Monroe as a potential hate crime.
Vauhxx Booker says he was attacked at the lake on Saturday, being pinned down by a group who threatened to get a noose. Booker held a press conference yesterday with multiple state senators and Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton in attendance.
Booker says bystanders helped him out of the situation, and some took video on their cell phones. Booker says he wants the men who attacked him to be arrested.
The mayor says the city is cooperating with federal authorities during the investigation.
