Early morning shooting kills 1, leaves another critical

Fort Wayne, Ind. (ADAMS) – A second overnight shooting took the life of one man and left another critically hurt.

According to police, at approximately 3:20 a.m., officers on routine patrol in the southeast quadrant of the city heard several gunshots being fired in the area of Oxford Street.  Officers responded and began to canvass the area.  Within minutes dispatch received a call reference a shooting in the 1500 block of Oxford Street.

Officers arrived and located two male victims inside a residence.  Both victims appeared to suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Paramedics pronounced one of the victims deceased at the scene.  The other victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.  Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim was downgraded to critical condition by a physician.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at (260) 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-7867.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.  There are no additional details at this time.
