FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says that two people and a dog are safe after a fire broke out at their home on Monday night. Crews responded around 9:30 to the 3400 block of Montagne Drive, close to Tillman and Hessen Cassle.
Firefighters found heavy flames coming from the rear of the house. The FWFD says the fire extended into the attic.
Two people and a dog were inside but self-evacuated and were not hurt.
The fire was under control in about 15 minutes. The house has moderate damage from fire, water, and smoke.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

FWFD was dispatched to this address for a report of electrical connections on fire at the rear of the house. Upon arrival, crews found heavy active fire on the exterior rear of the house which extended into the attic space. Two occupants and a dog self-evacuated. There was no one else reported in the home – FWFD conducted a search to confirm. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes without injury to Firefighters or civilians. FWFD received assistance from FWPD, AEP, NIPSCO, TRAA, and Neighborhood Code. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
