FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One person made it out of a fire safely on Monday on Fort Wayne’s east side Monday evening.
Crews were sent to the 3500 block of Chestnut Street around 7:30 and found the fire in a back bedroom in the house.
Firefighters were able to gain control in 13 minutes. The home suffered moderate water, smoke, and fire damage.

FWFD crews responded to a report of a neighbor’s house on fire. Upon arrival, a fire was located in the rear of the house in a bedroom. There was one occupant home at the time who was able to evacuate safely. The fire was brought under control quickly without injury to anyone on scene, and is currently under investigation. FWFD was assisted by FWPD, TRAA, and other agencies.
