FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a shooting on the northeast side Tuesday evening that left a man with life-threatening injuries.
Police say that at 6:30 p.m., a call came in from a man saying his friend had been shot near the intersection of Maplecrest and Trier and that he was driving him to the hospital.
Police learned a short time later that it actually happened in the 4000 block of Willshire Court – in a subdivision off Maplecrest and Road.
Police say that a person of interest has been identified but are asking that anyone with information regarding the shooting should contact either the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1201, Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867 or use the P3 Tips app.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On Tuesday April 4th 2023 at approximately 1830 hrs dispatch received a call from a male that his friend had been shot near Maplecrest and Trier, and they were driving him to the hospital. The adult male victim arrived at a local area hospital where he was suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the neck. Hospital staff stated his injuries were life threatening. Officers received information that the incident occurred in the 4000 block of Willshire Blvd. A person of interest has been identified.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
