FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne firefighters and paramedics responded to a fire on the city’s southwest side Friday night.
Officials say they found a burning car in a vacant storage area when they arrived.
Around 8:40 p.m., crews arrived and found smoke coming from the building at 4335 Earth Drive.
Firefighters entered the building and extinguished the vehicle fire and other contents inside the building. Firefighters searched the building but didn’t find anyone inside.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department says the cause is still under investigation.
FWFD officials released the following:
Fort Wayne Police responded to 4335 Earth Drive to investigate an activated alarm. When the Officer noticed smoke coming from the roof of the building Fort Wayne Fire was requested. The first arriving Fire Engine made entry and extinguished a burning vehicle and contents in a storage area. The building which contained 3 business occupancies was searched for victims inside with none being found. No injuries occurred during this emergency and the cause of the fire is under investigation. FWPD, TRAA, Neighborhood Code, AEP and NIPSCO all assisted with operations at this incident.
