FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fire officials say that two residents were not hurt but lost two family pets in a fire Monday afternoon.
FWFD crews were dispatched on a residence fire at 2916 Marne Place, between Bethel and Dupont Roads around 5 p.m.
When fire crews arrived, they found the two people who had made it out and smoke coming from the front of the two-story house. Firefighters were able to quickly get control of the fire which is believed to have started in the kitchen.

Upon entering the structure fire crews found a working fire in the kitchen extending to family room and extinguished. Fire crews did a rapid check of structure with nothing additional found. 2 Deceased dogs had been removed by residents prior to fire department arrival. Fire was contained to the kitchen area and slightly beyond with smoke damage throughout the first floor and part of second.
The fire is still under investigation. Animal control assisted with the deceased pets.
