FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says their officers are investigating a motorcycle crash that left a man in critical condition Friday night.
Officials say that alcohol and speed are suspected as factors in the crash that happened on the 2600 block of Sandpoint Road just before 11:30 Friday night.
Police reported finding the motorcycle driver pinned under the bike when they arrived.
FWPD officials released the following:
On Friday, 08/20/2021, at approximately 1128 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of 2600 Block of Sandpoint Road reference a motorcycle crash with injuries. Officers arrived on scene and observed a motorcycle off the West side of the roadway and an unconscious male, adult pinned under the motorcycle. The male was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle was traveling Westbound on Sandpoint Road when it lost control, leaving the roadway. Investigators reported alcohol and excessive speed appear to be contributing factors in the crash. Sandpoint Road, between Genesee Avenue and Monmouth Avenue, remained closed to all traffic while Crash Investigators processed the scene.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department.
