FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A home southwest of downtown suffered heavy damage in a fire Friday morning.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the blaze around 3:40 a.m. on the 1900 block of Bequette Street.
Three people were in the two-story home. All three evacuated safely and no injuries were reported, according to the FWFD.
The fire started on a second floor and took about 20 minutes to get under control, according to officials.
The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a structure fire at address stated. Upon arrival, fire crews heavy smoke and flames showing from second floor apartment. Fire crews were met with occupants of fire apartment who stated everyone was out of structure. Fire crews pulled hand lines to second floor apartment to extinguish fire on second floor and attic spaces. Fire crews performed search of up and downstairs apartments and found no one inside. Fire crews shut utilities to structure and performed salvage of first floor for water damage. Fire crews provided ventilation of structure. Fire investigators responded and cleared caused and origin of fire. Fort Wayne fire Department was assisted by FWPD, TRAA MEDICS, NCE, and NIpsco. Fire was under control in less than 30 minutes with no injuries reported.
