FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The FWPD says that one man is facing a felony charge after a barricaded subject situation Wednesday morning.
Police believe he had locked a woman and her child in a room. Once the man realized that police had been called he let them out.
However, when law enforcement arrived he refused to come out. It was only after police made entry into the home on Alta Vista Court that he voluntarily surrendered.
Police say that Daniel Barlag, 32, is charged with Criminal Confinement.
FWPD officials released the following:
The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at 5700 Alta Vista Ct at approximately 7:19am today. Police received a call from a complainant party who advised that her friend sent her a video and told the complainant party that she was locked in her bedroom along with her child and the door was barricaded. Once the suspect, Daniel Barlag, realized that the victim contacted Police, he let the victim and her child go.
Upon Police arrival, the adult female victim and her 7 year old child were no longer in the residence, but Daniel refused to come out and barricaded himself inside the residence. Multiple attempts were made to compel Daniel to come out voluntarily, but he refused repeatedly. An Emergency Service Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit page was sent. After numerous attempts failed to get Daniel to come out voluntarily; EST made entry into the residence. Once EST was inside the residence, Daniel exited the barricaded room and surrendered.
There were no injuries reported in this incident. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
