FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say one man died in a shooting late Saturday night. It happened on the city’s south side, but investigators say they found the victim dead at a local hospital.
No one is saying what led up to the shooting, and no one is saying anything about suspects in the case.
Fort Wayne Police Department officials released the following:
On May 28, 2022, at 11:48hrs, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 300 block of W. Rudisill Blvd after several people called 911 reporting hearing multiple gunshots. Officers arrived and located numerous shell casings near the intersection of Webster St. and W. Rudisill Blvd.
While officers were investigating, they received word that an adult male had arrived at a local hospital with an apparent gunshot wound(s) and was in life-threatening condition. This male was later pronounced deceased.
At this time, it is believed that the decedent was present in the 300 block of W. Rudisill Blvd when gunfire erupted and was taken by associates to the hospital. Investigators are trying to determine what transpired and led to the gunfire, as well as what the decedent’s role was. Crime Scene Technicians are currently processing the scene, searching for and collecting evidence. Detectives are going door to door trying to locate and witnesses and/or video surveillance.

There are currently no suspects nor suspect descriptions. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
