HAMMOND, Ind. (ADAMS) – The tourism office in Hammond is looking to sell its John Dillinger collection.
The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority says its Dillinger memorabilia, which includes one of his Tommy guns and his original tombstone, has been in storage since they closed their museum back in 2017.
The Convention and Visitors Authority’s Tom Dabertin says they are looking to other northwestern Indiana museums, or museums in Chicago, to take their collection off their hands.
Dabertin says he’d prefer the collection stay in Indiana to continue the state’s ties to Dillinger.
